SUMMARY:

  • Client seeks a highly motivated cell and molecular biology contractor to join our Oncology Discovery research team within the Oncogenesis Thematic Research Center (TRC) which specializes in protein homeostasis and targeted protein degradation.
  • The successful candidate will work collaboratively to develop and characterize complex patient derived tumor models using 3D bioprinting.
  • The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills in mammalian cell culture techniques, basic molecular biology and demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in 3D cell culture is also desirable.
  • This position is based on-site in San Diego, CA. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and passage patient derived material to enrich in-house organoid model libraries
  • Help develop and implement 3D bioprinting of complex 3D tumor models
  • Conduct various fluorescent microscopy assays on 2D cells and 3D cellular models and use image analysis techniques/software to analyze results
  • Prepare and analyze histochemistry samples from 3D cellular models, PDX and clinical samples
  • Design and execution of experiments in cell biology, molecular biology, and assay development
  • Manage cryopreservation of tissues and cell lines
  • Maintain an accurate and complete laboratory notebook
  • Write laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Assist team members with house-keeping tasks 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Hands-on experience with cell and molecular biology techniques such as:
  • Mammalian cell culture (3D culture experience is a plus)
  • Plate-based assays such as CTG, apoptosis, Incucyte
  • Cryopreservation
  • Western blotting; WES/JESS ProteinSimple is a plus
  • Flow Cytometry
  • DNA and RNA extraction and quantification
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform delicate manual tasks in a laboratory
  • Interest and proven aptitude in learning and applying new laboratory techniques, skills and instrumentation
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills (able to clearly communicate problems, protocols, and results to colleagues, both in writing and verbally), and ability to keep complete and detailed records
  • Drive to seeing projects through to successful completion
  • Fluency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Graphpad Prism & FlowJo is a plus 

EDUCATION: 

  • B.S. with a degree relevant experience in biology, chemical biology, chemistry, molecular biology, or a related field
