Minimum Education Experience Required:

  • B.Sc in biological/life sciences, College grad acceptable or Associates / Certificate in Biotechnology, 1-2 years exp or High School diploma with at least 2 years of relevant laboratory research school

Duties:

  • Client is seeking a highly motivated Biochemist/Molecular Biologist to join Biotherapeutic Expression and Purification group (BEP) in Cambridge, MA.
  • Qualified candidate will play an essential role in a high-energy DNA production and protein expression research laboratory.
  • The group supports non-GMP transient protein lead production across the companies diverse biotherapeutic discovery portfolio to enable the research units and their pre-clinical therapeutic in-vitro and in-vivo needs.
  • The BEP DNA production and protein expression group is looking for a laboratory technician to provide DNA production support for the protein expression and purification activities in BEP.
  • The candidate is expected to have a strong background in molecular biology techniques and experience with nucleic acid production and analysis.
  • The successful candidate will grow bacterial cultures and perform large-scale DNA production activities following standardized protocols.
  • The candidate will be a key contributor to the scientific team responsible for protein expression and purification.

Role Responsibilities

  • Production of plasmid DNA to support transient recombinant protein expression.
  • Conducting routine molecular biology techniques including cell transformations, day cultures, bacterial cultures, Gibson assembly, and digestions.
  • Maintaining reagent and DNA inventory.
  • Operate and maintain automated liquid handlers for plasmid purification, as well as downstream QC applications like NGS and DNA normalizations.
  • Conducting routine DNA characterization and quality control testing using techniques such as gel electrophoresis, fragment analysis, nanodrop, endotoxin testing, and preparation of samples for sequencing analysis (Sanger and NGS).
  • Maintaining daily work records in an organized electronic lab notebook. The candidate should also be proficient in using an online database for inventory management.
  • Effectively communicating with team members to meet strict schedules and deadlines

  • Handling Automations
  • Familiarity NGS "Nanopore"
