Job Title: Distributed Computing/Parallel Computing Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Location: Flexible/Remote, This role is fully remote

 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Distributed Computing/Parallel Computing Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing distributed and parallel computing systems. They will play a pivotal role in architecting solutions, providing technical guidance, and driving innovation in this space.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Solution Design: Collaborate with clients and internal teams to design distributed and parallel computing solutions tailored to their specific needs and requirements.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the primary technical authority on distributed and parallel computing within the organization, providing guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • System Architecture: Design scalable and efficient architectures for distributed computing systems, considering factors such as fault tolerance, load balancing, and scalability.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze existing systems and algorithms to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement, and implement optimizations to enhance performance.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in distributed and parallel computing, evaluate their potential impact, and make recommendations for adoption where appropriate.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to integrate distributed computing capabilities into existing systems and applications.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, best practices, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Training and Education: Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate team members and clients on distributed and parallel computing concepts, tools, and techniques.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in designing, implementing, and optimizing distributed computing systems.
  • Expertise in parallel programming paradigms and frameworks such as MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, or similar.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in distributed computing environments, such as Python, Java, C/C++, or Scala.
  • Strong understanding of distributed storage systems, messaging systems, and network protocols.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
