Mechanical Engineer in Bloomington, MN

Objective:

• To manage, maintain, and optimize test lab facilities systems to ensure efficient and effective operations.
• Schedule Control of Annual maintenance and documentation including budgets and supplier interface.

Scope:

• Includes HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other critical building systems.

Key Responsibilities

System Maintenance and Management

• Regular inspection and maintenance of all facilities systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues promptly.
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers for repairs and maintenance.

System Optimization

• Identify opportunities for system improvements and energy efficiency.
• Implement upgrades and enhancements to existing systems.
• Monitor system performance and adjust as needed.

Documentation and Reporting

• Create/build and maintain accurate records of system maintenance and repairs, which follow manufacturers recommended maintenance procedures
• Prepare and submit regular reports on system performance and issues.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for system management.
• Development and ownership of engineering system prints

Project Management

• Plan and oversee facilities system projects, including upgrades and new installations.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors.

Stakeholder Communication

• Liaise with building occupants to address system-related concerns.
• Provide regular updates to the Facilities Manager/Director.
• Collaborate with other departments to support organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in systems engineering/building management.

Skills:

• Strong technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in facilities management software and tools.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with sustainable building practices and energy management.
• Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS).
• Experience in a similar industry or environment.
• Experience with Refrigeration and Boiler Systems
