Prototyping Electrical Test Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA

Top 3 must-have HARD skills:

• 8+ years of experience with prototypes or bench electrical assembly, bring-up, electro-mechanical integration, and ability to do electrical and mechanical debug
• Ability to read and understand schematics and locate components on PCBs using design schematics and layout viewers
• Set up, support, and maintain hardware in a lab environment
• Generate complete assembly/test documentation of prototype assembly/ test setup and share results

Good to have skills:       

• Systems-level engineering development and test experience with complex integrated electromechanical assemblies
• Experience with system-level electrical design including circuit design, system bring-up, integration, and debug
• Specifying components, building schematics, completing board layouts, assembling, testing, debugging, and integrating designs into opto-electro-mechanical systems
• Experience with soldering. Fine pitched devices, 0201 or 0402 components, BGA/CSP, rework power components
• Parts programming (FPGA, Flash, etc.) and ability to take scope measurements

Prototyping Electrical Test Engineer (CW)

• As a prototyping electrical testing engineer in Prototyping & Concept Team, you will employ your expertise in building and testing prototypes and supporting engineering teams that require you to collaborate with teams within Hardware Engineering, Research and Development, and Industrial Design.
• The team is responsible for rapidly building and iterating polished high-fidelity prototypes and development platforms that bring new ideas to life by expressing design intent and user experience - using the best and most appropriate tools and techniques for the task.

Responsibilities 

• Partner with Client verse prototype teams to support prototype builds that include electrical and mechanical assembly, electrical component level placement/re-work and supporting bring-up with engineering teams to accelerate early concept development across Client’s VR hardware organization.
• Be the primary point of contact for hardware testing and troubleshooting from an electrical standpoint and work with other engineers in a team to root cause failures and come up with preventive and corrective actions.
• Hands-on experience with debugging and related equipment (Oscilloscope, Multimeters, Logic Analyzers, etc.)
• Ability to do PCBA (printed circuit board assembly) and FPC (flexible printed circuit) rework in electrical lab environment
• Collaborating in a team environment with cross-functional teams such system engineering, architecture, product design, NPI and research.
• Ability to execute multiple streams of work simultaneously and independently balance and prioritize project workload to ensure success against timeline constraints
• Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
• Displays attributes of a critical thinker and leverages innovative ideas. Team player and detail oriented.
