  • Perform regulatory compliance activities associated with production operations
  • Provide cross-functional guidance and support to production departments (winemaking, cellar operations, distillation operations, bottling, and distribution) to ensure the winery is operating within mandated compliance regulations.
  • Seeks opportunities to continually improve processes and workflow with larger winery initiatives in mind.

 

 Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of TTB laws and regulations relevant to government reporting for specified winery operations.
  • Reconcile and verify data integrity of information to comply with relevant government regulations for all federal excise tax and operations reports and state excise tax reports.
  • Properly file accurate monthly/semi-monthly Operations Reports and Tax Returns (federal and state) as required by the appropriate government agency.
  • Support Regulatory Affairs during external and internal audit engagements. This includes preparing for audits by external authoritative agencies and internal auditors, coordinating responses to requests for supporting documentation and preparing responses to external and internal audit reports, as appropriate.
  • Assist with the resolution of inventory and other regulatory matters.
  • Promptly file notices or claims when required by regulatory agencies.
  • Notify management of non-compliance risks associated with operational inconsistencies or process changes.
  • Perform routine self-audits within the winery operations to ensure standard operating procedures and regulatory compliance laws are being adhered to.
  • Maintain Regulatory Compliance License & Permit files and ensure current license/permit copies are posted, when required.
  • Train and develop new employees.
  • Removes inefficiencies from processes (own or departmental)
  • Support larger winery initiatives such as development of systems and procedures to ensure the data integrity of all supported recordkeeping systems – this includes both automated and manual systems
  • Assist with identification and implementation of best practices

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (emphasis in Accounting, preferred), or combination of education, experience, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in alcohol related regulatory guidelines (Equivalent combination of education & alcoholic beverage experience is acceptable)
  • Able to work flexible shifts and schedules including overtime
  • Skilled in writing reports, presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, suppliers and internal customers
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Access, MS PowerPoint
  • Skilled with systems such as Vintrace and SAP
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Manage conflict resolution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accounting experience in the alcoholic beverage industry
