Job Description:

  • The Health Care Compliance Specialist manages Healthcare Compliance (HCC) programs, transactions for the HCC organization. He or she supports planning, trainings, assessments, monitoring, testing and other varied HCC functions.
  • This person is also responsible for maintaining existing programs such as online systems and implementing activities related to Management Action Plans.
  • This position reports to the Senior Manager/HCCO Client Canada. This position is located in Markham and supports the HCC program for the Client sector.

 

Profile:

  • Position reports into the Canadian HCC Enterprise Wide compliance organization.
  • Requires strong communication, organizational and analytical skills
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Background may include Law, Compliance, Finance, Quality, Sales and Marketing, Medical Affairs, Regulatory or Auditing.
  • Proven track record in delivering results, self starter and ability to manage complexity a must
  • Industry related experience preferred: HCC, Regulatory Affairs, and Compliance Experience in the Client or Pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Ability to manage conflicts in an open and constructive and collaborative manner

 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

The Health Care Compliance Specialist will work with the Canadian HCC Client team on various support activities which may include but not be limited to the following: 

  • Organizing and implementing training on HCBI and HCC SOPs, Industry Code of Conduct and relevant position statements.
  • Oversee employee compliance certification and training records
  • Assisting in timely HCC reviews and approvals
  • Update local HCC Intranet SharePoint with up to date resources.
  • Carrying out day-to-day tasks such as data collection, analysis and reporting for use with HCC Steering Committees
  • Supporting launch and implementation of any new SOP’s, i.e DOJ guidance
  • Assist in the harmonization, preparation, updating and implementation of all HCC written policies and procedures on an ongoing basis i.e. Fair Market Value (FMV) calculator, Cross Border Tools
  • May serve as the first line of communication to the business for reviewing local day to day requests and documentation.
  • Assist in implementation of modifying global strategies into country specific deliverables, based on appropriate local needs, goals and objectives, considering local external regulatory environment requirements and industry trends.
  • Support Implementation of the HCC Strategic Plan, aligning with the businesses Annual Strategic One Pager priorities.
  • Support the HCC Program with implementation of education, training, and regular communications on HCC to all covered employees in Canada, including sales, strategic customer group, marketing, finance, HR, middle managers (tone from the middle) and directors (tone form the top) at the local level
  • Support the HCC local management in the self-assessment and risk assessment processes to detect process gaps & inconsistencies.
  • Support the implementation of local testing & monitoring plans to address any gaps against DIJ’s Ten Compliance Hallmarks.
  • Assisting in coordinating preparations for Corporate Internal Audits as required
  • Assist in the implementing and following up on the Management Action Plan (MAPs) as assigned by the HCC Officer
  • Report any unplanned deviations to the HCC Officer and assist with Managing day-to-day inquiries, allegations and investigations.
  • Maintain HCC Steering Committee membership and Escalation Process training roster.
  • Collect and Provide metrics to the HCC Officer as assigned.
  • Partner with North America Program Director’s Office: • Implement HCC training programs, including new employee orientation, periodic training on specialized subjects, and annual refresher training
  • Execute Testing & Monitoring plans and programs.
  • Ensure internal reporting requirements are met per enterprise requirements and schedule.
