Note:
Laboratory exp - can be college student. Exp with GC, HPLC, PH, SAP, word, excel, PowerPoint.
Work in Manufacturing industry is a plus.
Soft skill: Good work ethic, great personality and positive attitude.
Shift:
- For the first month (while training) they’ll work 7am – 3:30pm M-Fri.
- Once they go on shift they’ll work 6am – 6:30pm Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, one week then Sun, Wed, Thur. the next.
- This results in a built in 8hrs of overtime every two weeks
- They’ll then switch to night shift and work 6pm – 6:30am Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun and Wed, Thur. the next then switch back to days.

Main Objective(s) of Position
- Perform analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods, in a safe and timely manner, to verify conformance to agreed internal and external specification.
- Prescribe appropriate adjustment to products so they meet specifications.
- Contact the corresponding Product Steward when material can't be taken into specification to get direction.
- Give appropriate product disposition in SAP in accordance with the test results. Store sample retains and create and keep records appropriately.
- Send Customer COA's.
Responsibilities:
- The QC Laboratory Technician ensures the quality of products by performing physical and chemical analyses of raw materials, in-process and finished products in support of the manufacturing process.
- The QC Laboratory Technician primarily works a 12-hour rotating shift.
- This position requires schedule flexibility to assist with vacation coverage of other team members when necessary (including some weekends and holidays) as well as some early-morning training responsibilities.
- Perform all wet chemistry test on applicable products. Perform coatings application tests and evaluate results on applicable products.
- Analyze and record test results in the corresponding data base.
- Prescribe adequate batch adjustment to bring product into specification.
- Perform transactions in SAP as required for material status and generation of CoA's for shippable products.
- Effective communication of batch/lot results to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain working area (QA Lab) organized and clean.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze routine raw material, in-process, and finished good samples using various laboratory techniques including High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC) and other methodology such as particle size analyzer, density meter, viscometer, etc...
- Provide timely and accurate documentation of all analytical data according to Standard Operation Procedures (SOP)
- Escalate Out-of-Spec materials to QC Lab Supervisor for data review.
- Aid in management of inventory of consumables such as HPLC columns, spare parts, reference standards, and control samples.
- Complete routine troubleshooting and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Identify and implement process improvement in laboratory functions.
- Strict adherence to established quality, safety and environmental standards is required
REQUIRED:
- Strong math skills.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong knowledge of analytical techniques, understanding of proper chemical handling, use, storage and disposal.
- Must be able to work a rotating shift that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree(BS) or Associates Degree (AS) preferred in science field.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, including by not limited to hands on use of HPLC and we chemistry methods.
- Experience in microbiological analysis.
- Experience with lab equipment
Primary EHS Responsibilities
- Perform all EH&S inspections as well as housekeeping & 65 Audits as assigned.
- Timely report all accidents, incidents and near misses in accordance with site procedure. Attend monthly safety meetings as required and complete all required training.
- Ensure appropriate PPE is worn when required.
- Ensure all materials are dumped in the appropriate waste stream and handled in accordance with site procedure Use stop work authority for any observed unseal acts
Minimum Education and Other Qualifications
- High School graduate required-Previous Lab experience (6 months) or Production (5 years) Technical School or higher education desired.
- Occasional lifting, bending, and twisting of various range and motion requiring physical exertion when handling materials, drums, or equipment.
- Ability to lift 50-60 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk in work environment majority of time. Some stairs required.
- Occasional use of respiratory protection including air purifying and SCBA respirators. Must pass fit test requirements for respiratory protection.
- Work environment varies between inside building activities and outside environment (ability to withstand various temperatures and weather conditions)
- Must be willing to work shifts, weekends and occasionally, overtime
