Business Systems Analyst for our Chief Data Office in Waltham, MA - Even though says this is a plus they really would love someone with experience with ESG data and data models is a plus.

  • Business Systems Analyst I expect that 85 – 90% of time will be Location is Waltham, Need to live in Ma, NH, or RI.
  • I expect that they may come twice month to an office in the first several months and then it will be somewhat irregular with two or three times a quarter most likely.
  • They may have to travel to central Ma, downstate and upstate New York to meet with business SME’s on an irregular basis.

Job Purpose

  • You'll be part of the Chief Data Office function. It is a critical role to deliver on Client vision which is "To be at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future".
  • You'll be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of data and analytics leaders, and fellow data experts to develop and manage data products that can empower our business to make decisions from data to drive growth activities and bring efficiencies to our data processes and data maturity.
  • You'll play a pivotal role in operationalizing the most-urgent data and analytics initiatives for Client digital business initiatives.
  • This role presents an opportunity for someone with a passion for business systems analysis to work within our data interoperability team.

It has several facets:

  • Creating technical business and data requirements to assist data modeling team
  • Business & data analysis to gain the necessary level of understanding for the business use cases and data definition and usage
  • Work with Development Team to provide and clarify complex data, process, and analytics requirements
  • Participate in system and user testing

What you'll do

  • Document and create technical business and data requirements in working closely with business SME’s, data modelers, and development teams.
  • Work closely with Data Modeling Team to understand application data, process, and issues as part of the data modeling efforts.
  • Understand the data models and be able to relate use cases and other requirements to the data design.
  • Help the business in identifying how data supports business processes.
  • Liaise with business stakeholders in building trust that their needs are understood and reflected in the data design and development process.
  • Work closely with Development Team in the design and implementation of new data lake/ data warehouse.
  • Work with business analytics team to create new and update existing reports and dashboards.
  • Participate in testing of new data platform.
  • Support innovative and modern data tools, techniques, and architectures to automate data preparation and integration in order to minimize manual and error-prone processes and improve productivity.

What you'll need

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data management, information systems, information science or a related field is required.
  • At least 10 years or more of work experience in business systems analysis including business analysis and technical writing, ability to understand, explain, complex, multi-departmental projects from both the high level, overall perspective and the detailed, task level.
  • Experienced communications skills both written and verbal of both business and technical topics.
  • Ideally 5 years of this experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in utilities in support of a departmental and/or multi-departmental data management and analytics initiatives.
  • Accessibility and ability to interface with, and gain the respect of, stakeholders at all levels and roles within the company.
  • Deep experience working with with varied skillsets including information architects, data architects, data modelers, and data engineers.
  • Good judgment, a sense of urgency and demonstrated commitment to high standards of ethics, regulatory compliance, customer service and business integrity.
  • Confidence, energetic self-starter mindset, with strong interpersonal skills.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge and experience with conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Experience and knowledge of NoSQL databases, Snowflake is a plus.
  • Knowledge of data life cycle and data development process.
  • Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting and optimizing data systems.
  • Previous experience in systems integration both ETL/ELT especially with modern IO tools.
  • Proficiency in modern script and coding languages and experience with creating and implementing testing plans.
  • It would be awesome if you had Familiarity with industry standard models, preferably for the utility industry, knowledge graph networks, or ontologies.
