Associate Scientist I/II: Discovery Biotherapeutics

8 AM - 4 PM or 9AM -5PM or 10 AM - 6PM (8 hour work day)

 

2-3 weeks safety training and another 2-3 weeks training with database systems training

 

PhD will be overqualified

  • Experience with automation (e.g. Tecan, Hamilton, etc) is a plus
  • Protein and biologics sample handling is a plus
  • Help with backlog of samples with registering process
  • Bachelors degree needed minimum
  • Masters degree will be considered
  • Biotech, CRO and pharma industry exp preferred
  • Sample inventory handling
  • ELN exp
  • Exp working in pharma or CRO will be considered
  • Academic exp will not work
  • Masters degree with 0 yrs exp will not be considered
  • 2 yrs of industry exp needed minimum
  • Open to candidates with research exp
  • Python scripting exp is a plus and not required
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques to characterize proteins (e.g., SEC, MS, DSF)

Description 

  • Biologics Discovery Sciences is seeking a research scientist to join a dynamic team supporting biologics drug discovery and multispecifics engineering.
  • This position will impact projects by coordinating sample inventory, handoffs to cross-functional teams, reagent characterization, and data management.
  • The ideal candidate should have basic protein and biologics experience and knowledge of best-practices in sample management and handling.
  • The applicant should be familiar with database work, sample inventory systems, and ideally have basic scripting or advanced Excel skills.
  • Ideal candidate would also have experience with reagent QC. S/he should possess excellent organizational skills.

 

 

Qualifications 

  • Position will be hired based on level of experience.
  • BS or MS in biology or related field with 2+ years (BS), or 0+ years (MS) of pharmaceutical and/or relevant experience
  • Experience with protein and biologics sample handling
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques to characterize proteins (e.g. SEC, MS, DSF)
  • Familiarity with sequence management databases (e.g. Genedata)
  • Knowledge of sample inventory management databases (e.g. Freezerpro)
  • Experience interacting with CROs to coordinate and improve data transfer
  • Excellent organizational skills to track multiple requests and sample deliveries to ensure timely material delivery
  • Excellent communication skills to provide feedback to data strategy, pharmacy, and information resources teams for new tool development
  • Familiarity with report generation and electronic notebook systems
  • Skilled in usage of software programs, including MS Excel, Powerpoint, Word

  

Preferred: 

  • Hands-on experience with analytical techniques including SEC, MS, endotoxin measurement, and DSF
  • Experience with automation (e.g. Tecan, Hamilton, etc)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with Python scripting for file parsing and tool building

  • We are looking for a scientist to help register, label, and log hundreds of protein and DNA samples arriving from a CRO or that are produced internally, and import the data into internal systems.
  • Additionally, the scientist would help perform additional characterization assays as needed.
