Research Associate – Histology

Open to candidates willing to relocate at their own expense Fully onsite role Paid Parking Fee is required at this work site

 

Must-Have Experience:

  • Min of 2+ years of experience - Strong Communication Skills - Sectioning experience (cutting tissue)
  • The manager will train a new hire on "Lablion" laboratory information system (not required)
  • Similar exp is helpful Role will not work directly with live animals.
  • Must have standard histochemical staining exp (either manual or automated), will train on an automated process

Nice to Have/ Preferred Skills:

  • IHC Experience is a strong plus!

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly organized histo technologist to support the following activities:

  • Assisting with receiving samples from the investigator and registering them into the laboratory information system (Lablion)
  • Sampling of tissues from laboratory rodents (mice and rats)
  • Following the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing
  • Performing routine histology laboratory activities, including tissue trimming, processing, embedding and ensuring proper tissue orientation
  • Sectioning of paraffin-embedded and frozen tissue samples
  • Preparing stains and reagents needed for special procedures
  • Performing a variety of standard histochemical stains (manual and automated) for pathology evaluation (H&E, PAS, Trichrome)
  • Following established protocols to support IHC lab activities
  • Supporting various daily lab functions such as manual and automated equipment maintenance and cleaning, recording of equipment log data accurately, sample log and inventory management
  • Being an active participant during lab meetings
  • Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols. Reporting all safety issues to the team leadership
  • Minimum Education BS Degree
  • ASCP Histology certification or other relevant histology certifications preferred
  • Min 2+ years of experience
  • Role will not work directly with live animals
