Interventional Radiologist

Summary

  • Seeking skilled interventional radiologist to join a busy advanced IR practice serving two hospitals.
  • Ideal candidate would have a clinically focused background across the full field of IR.
  • Our section performs 6300 cases a year with a team of 4 PA’s and 3 IR Physicians.
  • We perform the full gamut of IR practice with a wide range of high-end IR procedures (See scope of practice).
  • This includes dedicated clinic time and optional DR shifts if desired.
  • The IR service operates as a subspecialty consult service. 
  • Minor procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, LP, central lines and picc lines are managed by the PA’s.  All other cases are consulted upon first.

Responsibilities

  • IR Procedures
  • IR inpatient evaluations / consults + office hours / follow-up care
  • Tumor board support
  • Patient management
  • After hours call – 1 week at a time, no more than 1 every 3rd week, Participation in Heart & Vascular lectures, service line meetings, peer review and quality programs Vascular lab readings, CTA interpretations
  • Research opportunities available
  • Supervise PA/NP’s

Work Environment

  • Dedicated IR suites – Phillips Allura – due to be upgraded to Azurion.
  • Dedicated CT for intervention
  • Fuji PACS, Powerscribe dictation
  • 2 Hospital system
  • Level 1 Trauma hospital with comprehensive stroke (separate neuro IR section)
  • Acute care hospital with Cancer center
  • Full-time hours with the full day spent at only one site. Call covers both hospitals after hours
  • Mix of inpatient and outpatient cases

Qualifications

  • MD/DO from accredited institution
  • Accredited residency/fellowship in IR (all pathways considered) – Board certified or eligible
  • Scope of Practice (University level practice with dedicated office hours)
  • General IR (biopsies, drainages, venous access)
  • GI/GU/Pulmonary – embolization, percutaneous interventions, ablations
  • Portal Venous and Mesenteric Intervention
  • Oncologic Intervention including TACE, y90, Cryo and Microwave ablation
  • MSK – joint injections, sacroplasty, ablations
  • Spine/Pain – ablations, injections, therapeutics, kyphoplasty
  • Venous Intervention – IVC Filter placement/removal, DVT and superficial vein, chronic venous disease
  • Women’s Health – Gonadal vein/UAE
