Job Title: Lab Manager

Cambridge, MA

  • We are seeking an experienced Lab Manager to oversee and lead the operations of multidisciplinary teams across global laboratory functions.
  • This role is responsible for managing personnel, coordinating activities, and ensuring operational excellence across all laboratory areas.
  • The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of laboratory operations, and the ability to align team efforts with organizational objectives while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and efficiency.

  

 

Key Responsibilities 

Leadership and Team Management 

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to laboratory teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Manage team performance by setting clear goals, monitoring progress, and implementing development plans to enhance individual and team capabilities.
  • Ensure teams are equipped with the resources, training, and support needed to execute their responsibilities effectively.

 

Operational Oversight 

  • Oversee high-volume testing and development activities, ensuring processes meet organizational standards for accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Supervise sample management, data entry, and laboratory processes to ensure seamless coordination of operations.
  • Ensure all laboratory workflows are aligned with project timelines, development goals, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain consistency and effectiveness in laboratory operations.

 

Compliance and Quality Assurance 

  • Ensure strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and global regulatory requirements across all laboratory functions.
  • Oversee documentation processes to ensure records are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal and external standards.
  • Lead efforts to prepare for audits, inspections, and other compliance reviews by maintaining operational readiness across all teams.

 

Strategic Planning and Process Improvement 

  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and execute strategies that optimize laboratory operations and align with organizational objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Prioritize resource allocation and project execution to meet evolving business needs and timelines.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

 

  • Act as a central point of coordination among laboratory teams, ensuring smooth communication and alignment on goals and initiatives.
  • Partner with stakeholders across analytical development, quality control, manufacturing sciences, formulation development, and quality assurance to support organizational objectives and deliverables.

 

Required Qualifications

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field); advanced degree preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Significant experience managing laboratory operations and multidisciplinary teams in a global environment.

 

Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory workflows, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
