POSITION SUMMARY:

Client  in La Jolla, California, is seeking a Scientist (non-PhD) to join the Molecular Biology group.

  • As part of our team, the candidate will support and advance our clinical and pre-clinical drug prorgrams. The candidate will provide scientific and technical support and work closely with their manager and team members to generate decision-enabling data for novel drug combination strategies and mechanisms of action.
  • An ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology and demonstrate experience with 10X Genomics Spatial Transcriptomics platforms.
  • They will use a variety of techniques including RNA extraction, library generation and image capturing.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support 10X Genomics spatial transcriptomic workflows.
  • Perform sample and library preparation, initial data QC and first pass analysis of results.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of experiments, protocols, and results.
  • Support inventory and maintenance.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • You will interact closely with colleagues in Translation Pathology IHC and Molecular Biology labs, computational biology, and on-site operational support groups.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field and 3+ years of full-time, hands-on molecular biology experience in an academic or industrial setting.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient in standard molecular biology techniques such as sample preparation, nucleic acid amplification and purification (RNA/DNA), and qPCR.
  • Experience performing complex multi-step experiments with detailed and diligent attention to planning, organization, hands-on technique, and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of QC metrics, interpretation, and demonstrated use of approaches for assessing the quality of samples and libraries for bulkRNA and spatial profiling
  • Hands-on 10X Genomics spatial transcriptomics experience.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to organize and prioritize work to meet timelines and deliverables.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in tissue processing and handling.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Basic job will require both work at the lab bench and analysis time at the computer.
