A person "with a disability" or a person "with special needs"
03/20/2023A person "with a disability" or a person "with special needs" —The term doesn’t mean they are not smart, talented or capable. It simply means that they have some basic needs that would require some special assistance. A person with any disability has equal potential that any other person of his age would possess.
A disability can hardly be a limitation, a fact that has been proven time and again by renowned physicist Stephen Hawking who had been paralyzed by a motor neuron disease. Yet his wheel chair could not keep restricted from uncovering the secrets of outer space.
Tommy Hilfiger, a world-renowned brand name, has struggled with Dyslexia for his entire life. Although he struggled with his schooling, he chose to take his own path and emerged as a successful name in the fashion industry. Hilfiger focused on his own strengths and took challenges that came his way as a tool to further strive for success.
Some of the greatest achievements in modern history were made possible by neurodivergent individuals; those with dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, ADHD, or other neurological conditions. From Albert Einstein to Bill Gates, there are countless inspirational figures who have embraced their differences to achieve great things.
A disability isn't something that one can't do, it is that which the person does inspite of it.
