4 ways to keep calm during an interview

04/24/2015

Most people feel nervous before or during a job interview but when you get too anxious, it?s time to take a few countermeasures.

  1. Use relaxation techniques: The tried and true methods include deep breathing exercises and maintaining good posture. You?ll look and feel more confident.
  2. Visualize being successful: Imagine that you already have the offer and you?re just confirming it by attending the interview (just don?t get over confident!). Begin with the end in mind.
  3. Stay calm: How you behave during an interview speaks volumes about your personality. Edgy or flustered behavior makes you seem needy and desperate ? the two biggest turn-offs. Remember that this is just one interview.
  4. Don?t take everything personally: If your interviewer isn't in the best mood, don?t jump to the conclusion that it?s you who might have put them off. There could be other reasons that have nothing to do with your interview. Focus on making the best of the situation and maintain your poise.
