Meet Yuri!
Yuri is a researcher from Minnesota who is passionate about helping others and giving back to her community. She enjoys volunteering in her community, especially during the holiday season, because there are so many children and families in need who deserve to celebrate the holidays together. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, she was interning for her school as a research assistant on a project focused on social media and well-being. She was able to examine how the pandemic affected people’s social media usage, but the study had to be put on hold due to the inability to meet in person to conduct their research.
After her internship, Yuri began searching for available positions on Indeed and found a post from Rangam promoting a Senior Clinical Study Coordinator position near her. She connected with an account manager from Rangam, and they were able to help her throughout her application and interviewing process. When asked about her experience working with Rangam account managers, Yuri shared:
“They were really positive, telling me, ‘You’ve got this. You can do it.’ It was really positive for me, just hearing that from a company because usually you hear that from friends or family, but not really from companies.”
With the guidance of Rangam throughout her application process, Yuri was offered and accepted a position as a Senior Clinical Study Coordinator with a medical device company. She is thankful to work on a team where everyone is respectful and supportive of one another, always willing to offer a helping hand whenever their coworkers need it. Yuri is currently working on updating the mission and vision statements for her company, and she shared, “[My manager] took the time to include other people [in the organization], not just upper management and supervisors, in creating [the mission and vision statements].” Yuri is grateful to be a part of the development process to create meaningful mission and vision statements that will embody ideas and views of people across the organization.
Yuri has been able to implement her problem-solving skills in multiple ways in her position, but one area she has been able to take the lead on a project is the work she does coordinating the translations of medical documents. Yuri shared,
“I don’t think I have had such a responsibility like this in other jobs. I don’t know how to put it, but basically, I feel like my role is important. […] It’s nice to be able to take control in that situation and be able to think critically about problems that come up and come up with my own solutions and suggestions.”
Being able to take the lead on new projects has helped Yuri feel empowered in her role and see that she is a valuable member of her team.
When it comes to welcoming more inclusive workplaces and communities, Yuri believes that it is necessary to be open-minded and nonjudgmental. It is important to engage more in the community to be an active and meaningful member of the community. The company she works for has volunteer programs where they work with community organizations to give back, and employees are encouraged to volunteer with their co-workers, which builds stronger relationships between employees and with the community at large. Yuri is excited to be a part of these programs and give back to her community even through her involvement at her job.
